How To Correct Mistakes On Sallat

Most people can't differentiate between Qabli and Baadi. Let's take note of this

From observation, it has been noticed that lots of us make one or two mistakes either by mistakenly adding to one part of the Sallat prayer or mistakenly omitting one part of the Sallat prayer. Yes, it is actually normal, as it was reported that even the Prophet (S.A.W) made mistake during his lifetime while leading the Sallat

Note that you don't have to start your Sallat all over just because of these mistakes. You can actually correct those mistakes without having to start all over. Yes, the Prophet (S.A.W) thought us how to do that.

So, what do we have to do to recompense or correct these mistakes?

It's very simple. We can correct these mistakes with Qabli or Baadi.

Qabli and Baadi are used to correct mistakes from either mistakenly adding to one part of one's solaat prayer or mistakenly omitting one part of the Sallat prayer. It is done during the final Salam, and like I said, you don't have to start your Sallat all over.

So, the question now is WHAT IS QABLI AND BAADI ?

Qabli is those 2 SUJUUD you have to make BEFORE your final SALAM, and it is done when you mistakenly omit obligatory parts of the Sallat.

On the other hand, Baadi is those 2 SUJUD you make AFTER the SALAM when you mistakenly add one part of the solaat to your Sallat.

Atimes, some people actually see it as being confusing to choose whether Qabli or Baadi when one makes a mistake during Sallat. So, I will just try to explain these two terms a little bit because it is very important to know them in order for our Sallat to be an accepted one.

When you add any part of the Sallat, maybe like an extra rakaat, a sujuud, a ruku e.t.c during your Sallat which has made your solaat more than it is expected for it to be, we term it BAADI.

=> To compensate for this BAADI, all you have to do is to add two sujuud after your final Tashahud and your Tasleem by sitting down to repeat tashahud and then you add another Tasleem to complete your Sallat.

When you notice that you have shortened or maybe omitted an obligatory part in your Sallat, then you can compensate this with QABLI.

=> QABLI can be compensated by just adding two sujuud after your final Tashahhud but before final Tasleem.

Then it is advisable that after your Baadi or Qabli, try to increase your Sunnah Sallat or Naflat Sallat so as to help in fixing any unknown mistakes which might have happened mistakenly in our fard prayers.

Let's note that, Tashahhud refers to the Attahiiyaat (to the end) and Tasleem is the final part of the Sallat, the Assalaamu Alaikum Warahmatullah which is said by turning our heads first to the right, and then to the left.

I hope with this, we now know the difference between the QABLI and BAADI.

May Allah accept our prayers and may He accept this as an act of worship.
