Tribute to a Great Community Chief, Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa, the Odeyani of Anebira, Kaduna.

His Highness Late Sadiq Obari Isa, Odeyani of Anebira Kaduna

Written by

Mohammed Abdulmalik,

Former President

Ebira People"s Association,

Kaduna Branch.

His Highness Alh. Sadiku Isah Obari the Odeyi Ani of Anebira, Kaduna who few days ago (14th June, 2020), after a brief illness. He has been burial according to Islamic right on the 15th June, 2020. May Almighty Allah grant him al-janat Firdausi and his family to bear the irreparable loss...Ameen.

Death no doubt is an inestimable end that must come when it is time. If it comes, the grief of all those affected as a result of the death could be best imagined, particularly when it is obvious that never again can such Community Chief be seen or heard.

It was the same grief I and my fellow colleagues who had served Ebira People's Association in various capacity hard just felt. The Community Chief Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa had also served Ebira People's Association in various capacity right from the inception of the Association in 1967. He was one of the co-founders of the Association.

This tribute is in honour of a man of many parts who throughout his sojourn on earth in the various places he worked and positions held and even after he retired and became elderstateman and as well as a prominent community chief, was never found wanting in his responsibility as a leader.

I had the singular opportunity of meeting and getting acquainted with him and his wealth of experience and wisdom when I became the President of Ebira People's Association for four years. In the course of my interaction with him as a President of the Association on various matters that bordered on the way forward of Anebira in Kaduna State and beyond was amongst other experiences I have proudly gathered from him. Since then, I established a deeper relationship with him and I found him to be highly intellectual when it comes to the history of Ebira and its people.

Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa was a true purist who can best be described as a democrat of our time and one man that brought hope then to Ebira people, a highly valued resources person at that time when many people were not informed of the necessity of bringing the people together. He jealously held sway and was poised to do more for his people in Kaduna in particular and Ebira in general.

Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa was an unassuming technocrat and a man who in all respects and by all standards has distinguished himself in several ways as a patriot and sacrificed all his time and means to assist in establishing and stabilising the common interest and peaceful coexistence of his people in Kaduna State. This is one of the applausible records he had swiftly achieved during his reign.

During the exercise carried out in order to have a credible and respectable chief for Ebira people in Kaduna Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa came out victorious and turbaned as the Odeyani of Anebira in Kaduna. His turbaning led to a major re-structuring of the Association and the people which brought about the appointments of Odeyani Council charged with the responsibility of advising and counselng him on sensitive matters that may be brought under his jurisdiction of his responsibilities. The council was duly inaugurated by the good tenure of our Distinguished President of Ebira People's Association, Comrade Suleiman Enessy, the most cherished and respected President so far. I was the Vice President of the Association at that time.

A remarkable aspect of Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa is that he ensured that all his responsibility as the chief were well carried out efficiently and diligently too while he also took time off to visit his people and play active role in sensitizing the people, creating community awareness and development. Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa was a depot of history, wisdom, development and talented with quick memory and oratory too but unfortunately we were not able to tap enough of these immense gifts from him before his demised.

As Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa has been interred into mother earth to join not only his ancestors and his beloved wife, who passed on some years ago, there is no doubt that he will surely be missed by many. I urge his wife that he left behind, children, grand children and in particular Ebira people in Kaduna to take heart in the fact that Alhaji Sadiq Obari Isa lived a good and exemplary life worthy of emulation. May Allah forgive all his sins and shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus. Amin.
