Title: The Okene City (The Headquarter of Ebira People).

Okene is a town in the Nigerian state of Kogi; The City runs along the A2 highway. It had an area of 328 km² and a population of 320,260 at the 2006 census.
The predominant people are called “Ebira”.
There are 11 wards in the Local Government which are Bariki, Otutu, Orietesu, Lafia/Obessa, Okene-Eba, Idoji, Onyukoko, Obehira-Eba, Obehira-Uvete, Abuga/Ozuja and Upogoro/Odenku wards.
Okene is not a Village but a City locally of great people called Ebiras.

Okene is popularly known as the heart and capital of Ebiraland which is one of the most industrious place in Nigeria and the world at large.

Okene is home for all, conducive weather condition and multi-religious place which dwellers of Kogi Central are known for their versatility and hardworking.
When I hear my people are this and that or portrayed bad on and off social media; I sighed knowing deep down with undeniable fact that Ebira people are those who go far in search of Education (knowledge) no matter what, they are accommodating and lovely people.
They are all over institutions around the country far North, East, West and South everywhere you think of and work so hard to make their home proud morally, academically and otherwise.

They travel as far to acquire knowledge, and well determine in fulfilling their dreams with hunger, little they had; they will go for it with the never give up attitude.
And no successful Ebira man or woman won’t tell you about having to struggle to get education in one way or the other.
They (Ebira) are focus, intelligent, zealous; Ebira parents will make sure they give their children the best support needed and sound education they all wanted and going far with extra hand in giving out all the necessary gears and advices.
Also, They don’t fail in giving that extra hands of student power (garri & akaretupa) making sure if na only wetin dey get, they support their children with it proudly.

I used to welcome my course mate returning back from home with my entourage knowing my garri arrived too.

I once asked what is the secret to my grades?; I smiled and replied “Student Power” na my mama Garri.

Never underestimate “Okene City” or dragged it to the mud because as it is in you, it is in every other person also which make you and others related by tribe.

Okene is not just a place or village as you all called it but it is a country that you can not just forget.
As I wait to see everything some of you talked about against Ebira via Social Media, but I know one thing “Ebiraland” is the best thing that ever happen to each and every one of you.

Okene is not just a Home but where happiness reside.

Okene is Ebira.
Ebira is Okene.

May God Bless Ebiraland🙏
