The Federal Government has adduced reasons why lecturers are now receiving lower salary with the commencement of the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System. The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, offered the explanation in a detailed statement on Monday. The statement was signed on behalf of Idris by the Director, Information, Press and Public Relations in the Office of the AGF, Henshaw Ogubike. Various chapters of the Academic Staff Union of Universities had complained that their salaries for February, March and April were like 50 per cent of what they used to receive.
