EbiraTribes of Nigeria: An Embodiment Of Forthrightness and Justice BUT IGNORANTLY STEREOTYPED!!.
I see the pertinent needs to write this rejoinder to a video made on the Ebira people tittled: " a tincture of sense" by someone with an obsecured ideas On circulation in the social media. The rejoinder is not meant to defend the Ebiras of any fault but for proper education about the noble tribe known and cal huled Ebira who are dialectically Found in different parts of Nigeria but all from the OHIKU descendants among other tribes that constitutes Nigeria. The meaning of Ebira is "Good character" Hence the Ebira people are people of good character and conscience not withstanding the seemingly stereotyping by some people out of ignorance which is also the case about other people or tribes.
The OHIKU Ebira tribe includes Ebira opete, Ebira mosum,Ebira koto- igu, in kogi state, Ebira toto in Nassarawa state,Ebira Agatu in Benue state, Ebira panda in plateau state, Ebira Etuno in Edo state and Abaji FCT Abuja; all migrated from kwararafa Kingdom In the present Taraba state; Where the Ebiras sojourned and stop over in idah and Itobe (etube) in the present igalla land before they further moved to their present locations as mentioned above because of issues they cannot compromised due to their ethical forthrightness and justice.
Ebira tribe was among the few first generation tribes that was discovered, recognised with clear identity and had played prominent roles in civilizing, economy, religion , politics and more importantly their roles to attain independence of Nigeria till date right from the era of protectorate, division, local, state and National levels. Due to their forthrightness, transparency, dint of hard working, justice and unwavering characteristics of the Ebiras. In the time of communal wars gbiras were invaded by jihadist and foreign captivist which they resisted, fought, and defeated Them in 1856,1876 and 1885 which has made every Ebira person ever ready to defend him/herself like the Chinese any day, anywhere and anytime. However an Ebira man or woman abhorred injustice of any kind weather he is directly or indirectly involved. Whenever he/she made up their mind to stand for what they rightly believed to be justifiable, its apparently difficult to change his/her mind with whatever influence irrespective of who is concerned (including his/her biological lineage ). Probably, this blunt traits which is rare among other tribes/ people made them to stereotyped or tag Ebiras as being " Stubborn or wicked " which simply explain the saying that "Truth is bitter" in the eyes of those who not only closes their eyes but their actions are characterised with falsehood, mischief, deceits and criminality than an Ebira person who is tagged stubborn or wicked for his forthrightness and justice traits.
The second scenario people have used to stereotyped the Ebiras whose land is blessed and located at the centre of the country where travellers from North, South and East passes through and knowing fully well that The Ebira land is urban area with clustered movement of goods and people, the passer-by motorist had severally been extremely reckless within the township across the land which always resulted to killings of the People Despite cautions and measures, which at certain time the people revolted against reckless motorist killing people especially during the Ebira festive period within the township. hence, the travelers like the make up news on social medias trumped up stereotyping on the people as being wicked even among the hear- says. Consequently, we wish whoever stereotyped and tagged Ebiras "Wicked " for taken measures to stop motorist reckless killings in their Land, that may such people have their people / Relations encounter avoidable killings and Thereafter roll drums out to celebrate the killers, otherwise they are warned to stop stereotyping the blessed Ebira people who should be seen for the good they are made up of compared to other tribes with burdens of attrocities and Criminalities. Therefore, With all sense of pride, the Ebiras are not known for human sacrilege such, as merchandise ritualist, Notable kidnappers, human trafficking, religious biggotery, children- warehousing, Fraudsters, public trust looters and nuisance rather the Ebiras believe in hard work and contentment. Ebiraland accommodates a lot of non- indigenes who are not only doing well In their genuine endeavours but living peacefully.
Its very worthy to note here that its sacred upon sons and daughters of Ebiras for any individuals, groups, region, ethnic or race (including an Ebira born) at home and outside to see/meet an Ebira person and decided to cheat, denied, oppressed or harmed him/her openly or in secrets shall Never go unpunished in one Way or the other on earth.
Furthermore, for the purpose of educating The people who knew little or nothing about Ebiras, the Ebira opete in Kogi central for example; are opened to Education and exposure to Civilization/ urbanization dated far back 1550 and to buttress with some facts but few:- 1886- islamic religion spread into the Land. 1909- catholic priest Rev Carmenti introduced Christianity and western education into Eniraland.

Ladies and gentlemen, respected well meaning readers, with the few extracted positive facts about the Ebira people of Nigeria presented above, you will agree with me that the stereotype tags on the Ebira people by any individual, groups, ethnicity or race are done out of ignorance/envy and must be addressed and stopped as any further stereotyping on the reputation of Ebira people without reconning anywhere, anytime and for whatever motives/motivation will not be entertained. It should be noted that all other tribes and origin lives successfully in Ebiraland without fears. The Ebiras are principled, Just and Forthrights as rare traits which are requirements of moral Citizens.
