KDSG appoints Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as Emir of Zazzau The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as the 19th Emir of Zazzau. He succeeds HRH Alh. (Dr.) Shehu Idris who died on Sunday, 20th September 2020 after reigning for 45 years. Alh. Bamalli is the first emir from the Mallawa ruling house in 100 years, following the demise in 1920 of his grandfather, Emir Dan Sidi.   Until his appointment as Emir of Zazzau, Alh. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli held the title of Magajin Garin Zazzau and served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Thailand, with concurrent accreditation to Myanmar. He has been a permanent commissioner in the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission in 2015. He has worked in banking and as Executive Director and later acting Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Corporation. The five kingmakers of the Zazzau emirate to begin a fresh selection of candidates for the 19th emir of Zazzau after it jettisoned the earlier list submitted to it. Late Emir of Zazzau Alh. Shehu  Idris   The state government on Wednesday stated that the earlier processes had excluded two untreated applicants including the Bunu Zazzau and the Sarkin Dajin Zazzau who it claimed had protested their exclusion in the selection processes. The top three were:  Iyan Zazzau  1. Iyan Zazzau, Alhaji Bashar Aminu from the Katsinawa dynasty who scored 89%;  Yerima Zazzau  2. NLC and TUC have accepted deregulation as a policy - According to a Guardian report, NLC accepted after it was pressured by other groups - Meanwhile, the government has agreed to reverse increment in electricity. The Guardian reports that NLC reluctantly accepted this after it was pressured by other unions. The news outlet added that the decision was influenced by petrol marketers, tanker owners and other stakeholders. Going further, the report added that the federal government also accepted to reverse the increment in the electricity tariffs. The meeting started at 8.37pm on Sunday, September 27, at the banquet hall of Aso Rock. Meanwhile, the report added that both labour unions will only take a final decision on the matter when it reached concrete agreement with government.
